This book contains mainly three parts: a modern version of totally 154 pieces sonnets, reprint of the text of the 1609 Quarto and the analytic commentary by Stephen Booth.

The primary purpose of editor is to provide a text that will give a modern reader as much as he can resurrect of a Renaissance reader's experience of the 1609 Quarto. The reprint of 1609 Quarto is suitable for those scolar studies whilst for general readers who only want to experience Shakespeare's romantic lovely murmurs, the modern version printing and editor's commentary are enough for enjoying these sonnets.
