the ruined castle of Mount Comeragh in

County Tipperary--she meets the

stranger who will change her entire life.

The Irish rebellion of 1798 had been

put down, and the Protestants now rule

the impoverished country through

tyranny and repression. The only visible

sign that the Catholics cannot truly be

crushed is the sudden appearances of the

Green Man to defend the rights of free

men against injustice. No one knows the
