The issue is heart transplant. The

brilliant heart surgeon from a nearby

town confronts Dr. Moore with a choice

between two recipients: a famous Sena-

tor who claims the .first available heart

transplant for his own, and the beautiful

young wife of Stephen, a local doctor--

shut off from the world as a victim of

aphasia. Burdened by the knowledge of

his niece Cathy s love for Stephen and

Stephen s own uncertainty over his

wife s continued ability to understand,

Dr. Moore is forced to help the ethics

board of the Cardiac Center make the

decision.
