Sheriff Gasteen stood in the crowd and drove

his angry words at Dan Bellow. "I told you

when you killed Tom Addis, I d not forget

it." Dan had shot Addis when the latter tried

to ambush ex-sheriff, Jubilee Hawk.

Gasteen, a tool of Nee1 St. Cloud, was

accustomed to getting what he wanted. He

also had his eye on Nan Avery, but she had a

mind of her own and a fighting spirit. When

St. Cloud s wild bunch rode in for the kill,

Nan joined Dan and his friends as they

defended their ranches in a gun-roaring

showdown.
