我觉得我之前对YA小说真的有误解。就算过了这么多年，读到书中的纠结还是能想起当初一度也很压抑，对什么都不满的自己。能入围国家图书奖不是没有道理的。

I don't think this book is really excellent ，but I just love it. Me and Julia have so much in common. Both of us love reading，and sometimes I just don't like anything. Some emotions written in the book are exactly what I am feeling in certain circumstances. Plus：I love David Bowie too.

This book is about the family/school life of a Latino-American teen age girl, and how she squeezed her place between the family/community -oriented Mexican culture and the individual- oriented America culture. It covers the conflicts of parenting between two generations, illegalization immigrations, depression, equal rights etc. A good read.

文法太过贫瘠，节奏掌握得欠火候，部分情节显得突兀。往好里说可能是立体呈现了底层墨西哥裔移民的生活。以及一大乐趣是猜里面的西语词是什么意思……
