    著者簡介

    Li Cunxin was born in a small village near the city of Qingdao, in northern China. At eighteen, he was selected to perform at the Houston Ballet, which led to a dramatic defection to the United States. He has performed as a soloist with the Houston Ballet and as a principal artist with the Australian Ballet.

    此書的側重點不是在描述cultural revolution的政治鬥爭。作爲出生清白的貧農家庭，他們算是不在浪潮裏。不過極度貧困，吃不果腹的童年，讓他後來面對西方的物質豐盛驚訝不已。 作者“幸運地”被選作Madman Mao組織的芭蕾團，算是被體制培養成長。相比起來，他比呆在農村的兄弟...

    是那种让人读得很快的书。 和电影比较，会发现存信还是我们这边的。 很难相信在今天，老外还在拿30年前那个模式去套中国人，即使这其实主要讲的是一个30年前的故事。 我一直以为，那会的中国人和现在的，并无大的区别，最大的，也许只是腰上那一圈肉罢了。

    在前往曼谷的火车上偶遇一新西兰中年女子，闲聊至彼此笔趣阁的书，她提到她最爱的一本书就是此书。我很好奇，一个从未涉足中国的西方女子，如何会对一个文革后改革初期的故事发生兴趣。想到她很惊讶我居然没有听过此书，旅行结束，回家做的第一件事就是到网上下载了网络英文版的...

    第一次看到这个故事是某次回国飞机上看到的电影。半睡半醒间看完的，朦胧中，最大的感触是：难得有部外国电影里能把中国农村从人到景表现的那么真实！ 后来就是auckland书店进门处摆起一摞摞英文版和大幅海报，宣传这本书。对这个人相当好奇外加隐约的崇拜。一直惦记着这本书...
