There’s a “queer theory” before queer theory.本书最重要的是Part 1 & 2。Part 1挖了酷儿理论的根——虽然我们常常把酷儿理论归功于比较文学等学科及巴特勒、福柯等学者，但在这之前以社会学的芝加哥学派为核心的符号互动主义、越轨社会学早已提出过类似的理论。某种意义上酷儿理论是在reinventing the wheel。Part 2来自1994年Sociological Theory的一期特刊，反思社会学与酷儿理论的关系。Part 3 & 4基本都是实证研究，简单扫过。
